Membership -- it's up to you

Toastmasters meetings are intended for learning and practicing speaking, listening and thinking about how to communicate.  The meetings stimulating, fun, and include opportunities for practice, feedback and improvement.

We understand that Public Speaking is one of the most difficult challenges that many people face.  We work extra hard to insure that you have a comfortable and easy environment to enjoy speaking and meeting others.

How to Join

Come visit one (or more) of our meetings at the Homewood Suites.  You can interact with the club and see if it is what you are looking for. If you like it we can give you an application and start you on your improvement path.

Costs

Toastmaster Club membership is very inexpensive. The organization dues are $13 per month (payable every 6 months). Very affordable. This includes all room services, local and international dues.

Deerwood Toastmasters provides a professional public speaking environment in a meeting room equiped with podium, dry erase boards and tables with linen.  The cost is slightly more than other clubs that meet at restaurants and public facilities.  We think it is worth it and so will you.

At each meeting there is coffee ("caf" and "decaf" are provided), water and juice of the day. Very affordable and a beautiful location.

The international organization provides comprehensive training and planning manuals.  Threre is a one time $20 new member fee that covers all your introductory manuals and materials.  Future manuals can be obtained Free Of Charge upon completion of various objectives as well as purchased at the Toastmasters store.

What else?

Each meeting runs about 1 hour and 15 minutes. In that short time you get a joke or two, a chance to speak, several chances to listen, a positive attitude that will last all day, and have a lot of fun investing in the best possible investment you can -- your self!

When it is your turn to give a speech, you will want to prepare, but since you will likely talk about something related to you or your work or your interests, the background research doesn't take long.

Organizing your thoughts and practicing your speech will take an hour or a few when you start. But as you practice and improve, you will find that you can develop and practice a speech readily in 1 to 2 hours.

So the big cost is the time. The payoff is in the return you get by investing in yourself to speak with others better, think better and listen better.

A good investment and very affordable.
